Born and raised in Oakland, California, Dwayne McCarther was raised by his mother and grandmother in a church-going family. Lacking a male role model, he turned to neighborhood friends, leading to a rebellious lifestyle, drugs, and crime, resulting in 30 years in jail and prison. However, he seized an opportunity at Delaney Street, graduating with valuable skills.
In 1993, he co-founded Positive Direction in San Francisco to assist those dealing with incarceration, addiction, and dysfunctional lifestyles. By 2023, the organization was thriving, helping adults in need.
Now committed to helping youth, he pursued a career in transportation, driving entertainers like The Chi-Lites and Gladys Knight. Over the years, he gained extensive experience in the music industry, working with top promoters and engaging in various roles from booking to artist management. Leveraging his experience, and he aims to guide at-risk youth using the arts, seeing music as the universal language of love.
